It sure is hard to spell BEER without BEE! On February 21st we are hosting our first Adult Spelling Bee. Have you been relying a little too much on spell check? Colin Duffy will be in the house as our host for the evening. Whether you want to compete or just sit back and watch, this should be a fun event! Check out below for all the details!
Registration will be at 6:30 pm. Must be 21+ to register. The event will begin at 7 pm.
There are 20 spots available for the main spelling bee event.
Entry is $10 a person. This is a donation to The Jackson County Public Library. You will receive a pint of beer as well with registration to give you some liquid spelling courage!
At 7 pm we will start out with a free written spell-off that everyone is welcome to play. The top 3 players who spell the most words correctly will win a prize.
For the oral spelling bee event, we will be completing 4 rounds of 5 spellers. Registrants will receive a number that will decide which round they take part in. The winner from each round will then compete in the final spell-off! Rules are simple...if you spell the word incorrectly or run out of time, you are eliminated! Our host will announce the word, give a definition, and use the word in what may be an inappropriate sentence. It's an "adult spelling bee", so things may not be so cookie-cutter. Words will increase in levels of difficulty.
There will be "cheats" available to purchase before the event.
10 Seconds With A Dictionary - $5 donation. (Limit 2, cannot be used on final word of the night. )
Try Again Pass - $5 donation. (Limit 2, cannot be used on final word of the night.)
Skip Me Pass - $10 donation. (Limit 1, cannot be used on final word of the night.)
All proceeds from cheats purchased will go to The Jackson County Public Library.
Winner of the final spell-off will receive their name on our champions plaque, a coveted trophy, and a $25 Innovation gift card!
