Honor Air Flight to Washington, DC
10/16/2010 - Sylva
Ph#: 828-631-5041
Email: lynlazar@gmail.com
The Rotary clubs of western NC want to send WW II veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorials. The flight is on October 16. The requirements are pretty simple. The person should be a veteran of WW II, but we will not ask for service records or any of that information. They must be physically able to fly and handle a long day. If they are in a wheelchair, that is fine. If they use a walker, we will have a wheelchair for them to use during the trip. We have several extra wheelchairs available because they tire during the day. They must fill out a health questionnaire and if there are questions, the doctor for the flight will speak with them during orientation to be sure everything will be fine for the trip.
There is no cost for the veteran. They will need to attend an orientation session one or two weeks before the flight in Asheville, but we will provide transportation for them from the Senior Center. Transportation will also be provided on the day of the flight, and details for that will be worked out as we get closer to the date. We will probably leave Sylva around 5:30am and return around 8:30 or 9pm. For more information please call 828-631-5041.

Kiss Me Kate, one of the Masterpieces of the Broadway stage will be performed on March 24 - 27, 2011 at the FAPAC theater. Based on "The Taming of the Shrew," the musical's ingenious plot shows the dramatic offstage lives of the actors and how they spill out onto the stage in performances of Shakespeare's comic play. Porter's timeless score will thrill you just as it has audiences for six decades! Perfect for the entire family. Shows on March 24 - 26 begin at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a 3;00 matinee on March 27. For more information please call 828-227-7491.
